The MP who triggered the "cash for honours" affair was at the centre of controversy yesterday over an incident in which he kissed and fondled two teenage girls on a hotel bed.
Angus MacNeil, a married father of three who represents the Western Isles, apologised for the hurt and embarrassment caused by his actions, which he "bitterly regretted".

Alex Salmond’s closest aide used public money to hire the wife of the man she had been having a secret affair with, the Mail can reveal today.
The SNP’s Joan McAlpine used her MSP’s allowance to employ mother-of-two Jane McLachlan as a personal photographer after she had a torrid sexual relationship with her 51-year-old husband, Mark McLachlan.

A former SNP MP who abused her position of trust to embezzle more than £25,000 from charities has been jailed for 18 months. Natalie McGarry, 37, spent the money on rent, a holiday to Spain and bank transfers to her husband, Glasgow Sheriff Court was told. She stole £21,000 from grassroots political group Women for Independence (WFI) in her role as treasurer of the organisation.

The Scottish Finance Minister tipped to be Nicola Sturgeon's successor was forced to resign this morning after admitting telling a schoolboy that he was "cute" while bombarding him with 270 online messages. SNP MSP Derek Mackay, 42, invited the 16-year-old boy out for dinner in private messages on social media over a period of six months after contacting him out of the blue. Mr Mackay resigned with immediate effect this morning saying he had "behaved foolishly". Jackson Carlaw MSP, the interim Scottish Conservative leader, said the messages constitute "grooming". The Scottish National party government on Friday defended its handling of a scandal that toppled finance secretary Derek Mackay after the newspaper that broke the story accused ministers of trying to prevent publication of the article. The Scottish Conservatives claimed the SNP was primarily concerned about protecting the party’s reputation after it emerged that the government asked the Scottish Sun to justify publication of its story that Mr Mackay had sent hundreds of social media messages to a 16 year old schoolboy.

06 Apr 2020 - Coronavirus: Scotland's chief medical officer resigns over lockdown trips
Scotland's chief medical officer has resigned after making two trips to her second home during the Coronavirus lock down.
Dr Catherine Calderwood had apologised for her actions, and initially said she planned to continue in the role.
She was backed by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, who said Dr Calderwood had made a mistake but should stay in her job.
