Part 1 - The meaning of the word "Independence."
Whether or not you are in favor of an Independent Scotland, and regardless of your Political affiliations or views, understanding the definition of the word "Independence," in the context of a country, in this case Scotland, has to be an essential starting point.
Readers may think I'm being patronising, sarcastic or overly simplistic but I'm not deliberately being any of these things. I have to say this because the past months of watching and listening to my fellow Scots debating and arguing the issues, has made me realise that a great number of people don't fully understand the meaning of the word. The word has almost been isolated and has become some sort of bright light, an entity, which attracts the eye yet distracts the mind.
Independence - The definition in context

Independence is a condition of a person, nation, country, or state in which its residents and population, or some portion thereof, exercise self-government, and usually sovereignty, over the territory. The opposite of independence is the status of a dependent territory.
If you can read, digest and understand this definition, you will have gained a great advantage over those who simply don't know, or refuse to accept what it actually means.
You'll see what I mean if you take this definition and apply it to many of the arguments, or quite often non-arguments, that you find on Social Media platforms.

When it comes to analyising, I like to break things down into their individual components. I find it helps me to understand each element and in turn, this helps me to express myself to others in a logical way, and using plain language, which I hope other people can understand.
