The SNP - Selling the vision of Scottish Independence to the people

There are eye catching headlines, fantastic YouGov Polls and the inference that Scotland is somehow missing a trick. The subliminal implantation of the idea that Scotland and the Scots, lack the gumption and drive to carry out the manoeuvre.

Is this a type of reverse psychology? Tell people they can't do something implying they are too stupid, and those who don't look past the headlines are off on a mission to prove otherwise.

It sounds like a good idea!

"Scotland is a country so why shouldn't it be Independent, and as part of this Independence, should we not be part a collective and join the European Union?"

What could possibly go wrong?

Getting excited at the prospect?

Fantastic! Before we go any further, remember what we learned and understood about the meaning of Independence in Part 1.

Already we have a few serious questions to ask ourselves.

Here are just two of them. (If you can think of any more, please comment and we'll add them on to the list.)

Let us ask ourselves the questions

  1. Why should we leave one Union to achieve Independence and than join another?

  2. How would Scotland be Independent if it was a part of the European Union?

  3. (Thank you - J. McD - Perth) - "What currency would Scotland use if we be become Independent?"

  4. (Thank you - P. Millar - Airdrie) - "What would be the arrangements for a Scottish Military if we become Independent?

  5. (Thank you - L. Keith - Arbroath) - "If Scotland had its own currency, how would it be valued against that of other countries?"

  6. (Thank you - D. Brown - Aberdeen) - "If we became part of the EU and we wanted to negotiate a Trade Deal with another country outside of the EU, would we be able to do this directly with that country or would we have to get the agreement of the EU to negotiate outside of the EU?"

  7. (Thank you - K. Slater - Glasgow) - "What is our Military Contribution now, and what would it cost Scotland to have it's own Independent Armed Forces?"

  8. (Thank you - M. Shah - Edinburgh) - "If Scotland was Independent and had its own Military, could Scotland declare itself as a Neutral Country, and could it also be a member of NATO?"

  9. (Thank you - M. Stanhope - Inverness) - "If Scotland was Independent, would an Independent Scottish Government be able to introduce Conscription for young people?"

  10. (Thank you - D. Kerr - Coatbridge) - "If the SNP is really so bad, why do so many people vote for them?"

  11. (Thank you - C. Speirs - Cumbernauld) - "Would there be a so called "Hard Border," if Scotland became Independent?"

  12. (Thank you - J. Freeman - Ipswich) - "Would Scotland be able to sell enough goods and services to make an Independent economy work?"

  13. (Thank you - E. Bell - Cambuslang) - "If Scotland became Independent, would we still have to pay the BBC for our Television Licences?

  14. (Thank you - M. Cole - Newhaven) - "Who controls the Oil Revenue that is generated by Scotland's off shore drilling and extraction operations, and where does the money go?"

  15. (Thank you - P. Clarke - Prestwick) - "Why is there all this talk of a second referendum?" "We already voted and the decision was "NO to Independence."

  16. (Thank you - E. Brandt - Stirling) - "How long would it take to become a member of the EU if we votes YES for Independence?"

  16. Answer - "It has been estimated that this process could take at least 5 and up to 10 years. There is a lengthy process beginning with the establishment of an acceptable currency, followed by the entry process into the EU. The video interview between Andrew Neil and Nicola Sturgeon in Part 4, goes into detail of a likely process and time-scale." (It should be understood that once entry into the EU is achieved, Scotland would become a Dependent EU State regulated by Brussels, and would cease be autonomous and Independent.)
